A small part of our job is to support Wikimedia Foundation user groups with their accounting (we act as fiscal sponsors, meaning that we lend them our non-profit status so that they can lead their activities and we take care of the paperwork).
Among the folks we are happy to help are the Wiki loves Folklore organizers, and boy aren’t the results totally worth it. 2023 marked the fifth edition, and those are the winners – congrats!

Sinulog is a ritual dance in honor and adoration of the Santo Niño (Holy Child Jesus). The dance moves twoforward and one step backward to the beat of the drums. These resemble the current (Sulog) of what was known as Cebu’s Pahina River. Thus Cebuanos called it Sinulog. Han Dan is one of God of wealthy in Taiwan. According to the tale, Han Dan is afraid of coldness. When he patrols, the citizens will fire the firecrackers to make him warm. There is a custom in Taiwan. When a man play a role of Han Dan, he has to suffer the pain of firecrackers bombing on his body which means that he can wash his sin away or bring blessings to his family. CC-by-SA Yake2434
