Kiwix is a non-profit
-
- It is both Free as in Beer (you don’t pay for it), and Free as in Speech (code is fully open-source);
- We collect no personal data, and display no ads;
Your support keeps us going. Donation range last year was $1 from a guy named Peter, to $500 from another Peter. If your name is also Peter, you know what to do. LINK
Check our offline content online
The Kiwix library shows the full catalogue of content that is available for download. Click on a box and you can either browse the zim file, or download it (and even check its integrity via the SHA-256). You can also subscribe to an RSS feed for files (check out the button in the top right corner). LINK
Not us, but still cool
- The largest Wikipedias by number of articles. I checked and we have them all. LINK
- AI based directly on your phone? Currently, you need data as the question you asked are handled by a big-ass server somewhere in the Silicon Valley. This might change soon(-ish). See also below. LINK
Ongoing work
- An Android update earlier this year ended up blocking access to zim files that had not been downloaded from the app. Kiwix 3.8.0 aims to fix this and is 61% complete. We’re hoping to release by the end of Summer. LINK
- Turns out that AI may not be that complicated to run if someone else has already done the conceptual work. The Proof-of-concept for a very small AI trained on Wikipedia exist, let’s see if we can implement it. LINK
