As usual you can download it from our website for the unlimited version, or from the playstore if you are ok with not being able to import zim files from other devices (not our fault, Google blocks these). Other than that, it’s all about browsing you favourite content offline, anywhere, anytime and all the other versions (for Windows/Linux desktop computers, Apple devices, browser extensions and whatnot) can be found here.
If you are an Android user, do not forget that Kiwix is free, collects no data and shows no ads: support us if you can so others less fortunate around the world can also benefit from it.
New Features:
- When searching for any article if the user presses the search/enter button on the keyboard, and if any article is found with the searched query then it will open that article directly. W00t w00t!
- Introduced the progress bar in the library screen to show how much storage has been scanned. YEAH BABY.
Bugs Fixed:
- Error on opening a split zim file. No more errors.
- Sometimes setting the org.kiwix.libzim.Archive.setNativeArchive crashes the application. Nope, it does not.
- Zim files are not opening with Kiwix when clicking on zim files in the storage. Hell yes now they sure are.
- Main page is not loading for zim files. Well now it is.
- The Delete icon is showing wrong content description on the notes and history screen. We told it to stop lying and show the right description.
- Enhanced ZIM file scanning. That’s what she said.
- Fixed pop-up(Search kiwix) function issue with Librera reader. High five, Librera folks!
- Inconsistent visibility behavior when no ZIM file is opened. Inconsistent no more.
- Application crashes below API level 29 when we select the external storage. No it does not.
- Application crashes when opening saved notes if the ZIM file does not exist. Uh uh.
- Application crashes when opening ZIM files directly opening from storage using deep linking. Not under this watch.
- Application crashes when closing the tab. Oh does it now? Of course not!
- A few Samsung devices are unable to download 4+ gb files. This fix not even sponsored by the giant multi-billion dollars conglomerate.
- Content is not displaying after opening the ZIM file from Chrome. This fix not even sponsored by this other giant multi-billion dollars conglomerate.
- Read aloud does not stop for closed tabs. Say what?
- After restoring the tab it hides some top area of the article. It can run and we made sure it can not hide.
- Improved UI to show hints of view functionality when the user long clicks on any view. UI = Gooder looks.
- Application is not restarting from Error activity. We put it back to work.
- Better permission requesting. Still not saying “please” though.
- Improvement in restoring tabs. Well that’s a feature I did not even know existed.
- Few links are not working in README.md file. Interlinks are the essence of the Web. We fixed them. We therefore fixed the essence of the world wide web. BAM.
- Added documentation for Git Hooks in the CONTRIBUTING file. So, you know, more volunteers can come and help.
- Fixed some issues reported by the playStore. Complaining does work if you are nice about it.
Compilation/CI/CD:
- Using libkiwix 2.1.1. Yet another piece of work.
- Sometimes CI fails due to `signatures do not match` error. Now CI is more like “Success is my only motherfucking option, failure’s not“.
